I've got some money that I want to spend on upgrading the computer I use for LW. I use it mostly for LW and Phoroshop and some CAD, but no games or anything like that.

Anyway, after looking at my budget and what's available I've come up with the following options:

1. GeForce FX5900 ULTRA (no extra RAM)

2. GeForce FX5600 + 1GB extra RAM (possibly more)

3. GeForce TI4800(SE or 8x) + 1GB extra RAM (possibly more)

The computer now has 512 MB RAM and a GeForce4 MX card. I need a new Graphics card for another computer, so I thought I'd put the old one in that and get a new one for the LW system. The FX5900 is really my upper limit, and I wonder whether it's really worth the money.

Any suggestions?

I'd go for the simplest graphics and some extra RAM. Even though LW's implementation of OpenGL is a bit weak sometimes, it's still very hardware friendly. With average scenes and objects a good GeForce 4 is still good enough. This may change with v8, however, So if you can it would be better to wait till the end of the month when first details become available.

Thanks. I'll probably wait a little then.
