I took the VM out of the office today, after a couple months of sitting in the box, and it won't work. I've tried using two known good USB cables in the front of the unit and the back. USB connections work fine for KB and external hard drives.

The VM just lights up dimly the entire top row (LIVE) of buttons. Nothing on it functions.

Does this need to be repaired?

Is there anyone in the Chicagoland area that would be willing to loan me a VM for the weekend? My director for this show has never used the TriCaster with the keyboard before! HELP! PLEASE!

ftp://ftp.newtek.com/pub/TriCaster

Go there and download the tricaster manual in pdf. Search keyboard Shortcuts and you will find all the shortcuts to help him through.. Print them off..

It's funny you say that cause my VM did the same dang thing. I am now just used to the keyboard. I guess I should send the VM in for repair or at least check on it. I figure since I'm used to the keyboard what is the use. Keyboards are much easier to replace and less of a crutch.. But yes, the VM has it's advantages once learned.

I'm glad that yours did the same thing. That tells me that there are underlying problems with this unit.

Yes, we'll use the keyboard and I do carry a spare one of those because if the KB goes out, there's no way to log on to Windoze. Lighting for this job is minimal and to see the keyboard means a light and we're sitting in a darkened room in full view of folks. That's where the VM _ahem_ shines far above the keyboard.

Makes that back lighted keyoard I looked at a year ago look that much more attractive.

Thanks! MRG

I have a Saitek Eclipse lighted keyboard here at the house for the very same reason you speak of. I keep my den rather dark and the lighted keyboards are very nice for that. PS, I did call Newtek today and got an RMA to get my MV repaired. It was covered after all and I'm shipping it out.. Your post got me motivated to take care of it finally.
