Hi guys.
A customer of mine sendt me a .sos file to be used as a base for a lansdcape
visualization project.

I search the net for solutions and descriptions on how to edit or even open/view this file as it cant be opened directly in Lightwave.

This is the first time ive seen a filetype like this. Im previously familiar with DEM files etc, but this seems to be a different approach.

3AM Solutions(3am-solutions.com) offers software to work with and/or create .sos files and it seems to be directly supported for 3ds max.

How about Lightwave? Any solutions? Anyone on here got any experience in the .sos department?

Any help/tips would be highly apreciated :)

AFAIK .sos is SOSI, the standard Norwegian open GIS format used by Statens Kartverk etc. I often use data from SOSI, which is 3d vector format, but then I always get it from my clients (or from kommunen) in DXF or DWG format, which I can easily load into SketchUp for modelling the terrain etc.
I don't know what programs can be used, but I believe AutoCad will do it (with a plugin?)? Also several commercial GIS programs?
