If you've looked at the Kaydara plug-in, but couldn't quite bring yourself to spend $99 for only a one year license, you can get that year for free, or pratically free.
Issue 61 (June 2003) of Digit included Kaydara with it. I honestly haven't tried it out, and the install didn't work for me. I had to copy the files and rename two .msi files to get them to run (in other words, the install didn't work).
But it's included with the magazine and you do get the usual 1 year license from them, plus they will give you a discount off the unlimited version. You can get the required LightWave plug-in in NewTek's (or Keydara's) download sections.
We run a bit behind in the states, I believe they just put out #62 here, but #63 in the UK. #63 is worth getting too, it will have a free copy of the full version of World Builder 2.3. Not a bad deal.

I found the same install problem. After getting everything to work I copied the entire CD to the HD and then renamed the file and created a duplicate CD. I downloaded all the PDF and VTM tutorials. I've only viewed about 6 so far and I'm pretty impressed. The character rigging if very simplified if you set up everything right from LW. I understand it also has lipsync capabilities. I haven't got there yet, but the whole package sounds pretty impressive. To upgrade to permanent license for $200 is quite a bargain.

The way it worked out, I bought the copy of DIGIT with Kaydara in it the weekend after I ordered Project Messiah. Soooo... At least I have time to check this out and see if pMG does what I need, or if Kaydara works better, or if I want to upgrade to Messiah:Animate.

Got 'em both, so very happy, noted that worldbuilder was (SE) - but whether it is restricted in some way, or it is a way of doing this sort of thing 'legally' I dunno.
Whats more, next month DIGIT is giving away Particle Illusion 2.0 'SE' Free!
Sure, it is bound to be limited (SE), but hey - can't argue with the price.
As for Motionbuilder, Kaydar have a bunch of tuts in PDF form, plus loads of 3DBuzz 'VTM' tutorials on their site - most useful! :D

DIGIT has a coupon code for WorldBuilder on their site, it takes $100 off the usual $399 for Worldbuilder, not sure of the discount on WB Pro. I went ahead and ordered a copy after looking at the demo. The renderer is kinda slow, but the quality is excellent. The discount puts it in roughly the same price class as Bryce and Vue, neither of which have parametric foilage or animation of grass & trees. WB also 'knows' about bodies of water and can animate those as well.
Direct support for LWO makes it irrrestible! :)
There is probably a discount for upgrading from the 2.0 SE edition as well, I'd check WonderTouch's web site.
