I just did a clean instal on a new hard drive running windows 2000 pro SP4. LW 6.5b Layout opens and runs fine but modeler just briefly flashes up and dissappears. Any body else seen this?
Thanks

Hi there,
Try deleting all your Lightwave config files, then restart your computer. hopefully you should get modeler back (I had a similar thing happen in Layout with the graph editor, flashed up then dissapeared, and it fixed that).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

thanks for the suggestion but to no avail. Found some similar problems posted in the old forums but no real solutions.

If it's not config files, pretty much has to be video related.

ya know I would think so too but if I remove the dongle it opens and runs in demo mode. go figure.

One other thing you may check is in the registry. Newtek and some other developers use the registry to store data. If there is any corruption there it would cause a failure to load. I had an Lscript that the temp file it used was corrupted and I tried completely removing it and reinstalling to no avail. I finally figured out the Lscript stored parts in the registry and that part had become corrupted.
You can look here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NewTek in your registry to find any problems.

If the above suggestions don't work, check to see if your Win2K Service pack setup allow you to un-install the SP's. I had similar problems with 6.5b after I installed IE 6. Try running SP 2 with IE 5 and see if that works. You may need to re-install Windows though (I don't think uninstalling just IE 6 works).
Cheers,

OK, try reinstalling different dongle drivers.

yea , I contacted them and I think that's what I have to do too. weird that it doesn't effect layout though. Thanks all for taking an interest. The LW community is without the most helpful.
