I've been working on this off and on for a while, but I think I'm finally ready to put it down. Opinions are welcome...
Thanks!

So simple, but so atmospheric! Love it all... the pumpkin texture could use a tiny bit of something, can't put my finger on it, maybe it isn't orangey enough?

But the candles are nice... the bit of whispy smoke is spot on, how did you do this?

Take a cone/tube and subdivide it all to heck. Displace that with Fractal Noise, modified by an alpha gradient (distance to a null at the base of the plume). Texture with a 50% Luminosity (also with an alpha gradient to the null, ranging 50-100%) and 95 Transparency, with fractal procedurals also controlled by gradients. If you're seriously interested, let me know and I can send you the bits.

JEEEEESUS!! So it's all procedural? That is remarkable! Looks like real smoke. I thought you may have UVd a ribbon of polys and used a photo of some smoke and cleverly made it tile or something.

Your way is just perfect! I am REALLY interested. I feel like I'm scrounging for your method, but if you wouldn't mind sending me just the smoke, i would be very grateful.

The newtek community is incredible, it really is. I posted a problem with 3ds max a couple of months ago in another forum, and haven't had a single response, but here, everyone bends over backwards to help anyone. :lwicon:

I really appreciate your help. Would you upload it or email it?

I wouldn't mind seeing the actual set-up for that, if you don't mind.

Poor Pumpkin! Looks like the Cenobites found him. Really nice work there.

Hi, thanks for your comments. Here are the smoke bits so you can see how it was put together.
