.. seems to be taking off.
Whatever you think of Bully's films, I was impressed by the effects in Traumschiff Suprise, and the latest of his is all CG:
Lissi und der wilde Kaiser (http://www.lissi.film.de/)
Click on Filmrolle to see the previews.
Can't find much info, but the landscapes look totally Vue-ish to me ;)

In both cases http://www.scanline.de/ were responsible. Probably the biggest studio over here. And one of the few that do real in-house r&d as well.
Unfortunately, in both cases the humour sucked badly (my opinion, Bully has his fans over here - think of Mel Brooks but less funny).
Cheers,
Mike

Absolutely. Then again, I don't think they had the budget nor the man power that Pixar have either ;)
Cheers,
Mike
I thought the animation looked pretty good (but then I'm no animator.)
Pixar set a really high bar and to rate others against them is like comparing every actor to Robert De Niro.
I just saw Ratatouille at the weekend and it's unbelievable. Every frame looks lush.

German movies, to the best of my believe, generally have about 1/50 if not less the FX- budget of US- movies. Comparing anything seen in a German movie to any US movie directly is more than unfair.
I am kinda sad that the EU took on the US- copyright laws. I would not have done that. Now EU- movie productions stand even less of a chance than they used to.

Sissy had around 12 million € - not a lot... but not that bad either.
On the other hand... we're used to getting the most out of a small budget ;) (Which is apparently why a lot of German directors are doing surprisingly well in the US).
Cheers,
Mike
