If you start with a rectangle and rotate the rectangle around one of its edges, you will create a cylinder (solid). Is there a way of producing an animation which shows the cylinder being created as the rectangle rotates?

I have not been able to open your file, and so I cannot reply.
I think I basically want to lathe an area and see that it happening in layout.

calif newbie --- Get 7-Zip, here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/ . It's free, and it'll open zip and rar compressed files.
prospector --- I think what calif newbie is after starts out as a 2D rectangle, which lathes into an expanding 3D pie-shaped section, ultimately resulting in a cylinder.

Or starting with a 2-d semi-circle and lathe it around the diameter to form a sphere. I want to be able to animate the lathing process in layout.

On Splinegod's site he has a video about rotating an eyelid that may give some ideas.
