Hi,
What is best way to stripe 4 scsi discs u320 for best performance? I have adaptec 29320r controller and 36MB/s
in Toaster autoconfigure test. Is'nt that a bit slow ?
Paul has posted about this before.
The recommendation is to use Windows (2000 or XP) to stripe the drives. You will get the the fastest sustained rates this way.

No.
It's a LOT slow. :(
Make sure all your drives are set as Dynamic before striping.

Hmm. Autoconfigure shows still 36mb/s...
It,s 4 discs Seagate scsi u320 array on adaptec29320r
Do You think that could be problem of controller ?
Guys from my technical support just scratching heads...

When booting, does the SCSI bios indicate all 4 drives as 320 ?
A bad or improperly terminated cable can do this as well.

Using an older 68pin ribbon cable (not the newer phenolic twisted pair) can also do this, but often it's simply a bent pin somewhere in the chain that causes such a problem.

THANX for. all. Now is 210 Mb/s. Of course, someone connected the scsi cable to wrong port ( trehe are two if i understood good )
So man's mistake.

Found these suggestions earlier on a post in this discussion forum but can't find them anymore:
1) If the hard drives should be fast enough (SCSI ultra-160) and the drives are still not performing as they should...
-what numbers do you get running disktest.exe on the video raid?
- Make sure the System page file is NOT on the video stripe
- Set page file size to 4MB less than physical RAM
- ensure you're running Windows 200 Service Pack 2
2) Make sure your striped set is not using Win2K's Indexing Service...
-Go to "My Computer" and right click on the drives. Select "Properties" then "General" tab. Make sure there's no check mark for "Allow indexing service..."
