My building has a lot of windows / doors that don't exactly match what comes with LWCAD, so I'm making them and adding them to the library. One window type has an arched top. I made one and added it, but when I try to use it it cuts a rectangular hole in the wall, leaving two big holes in the upper corners. I tried resaving the window with those corners filled in to be rectangular, but it still left a gap. Anyone have any suggestions?

My first guess is your "profile" around the window is wrong. LWCAD relies on a profile of curves to indicate how to cut the wall. I have added round and part curved windows with no problems. Screenshot?

I see, the help video on the website said you could add a curve to it but didn't say why. Works perfectly now. Thanks!
On a side note I mentioned to Viktor an idea about having a collection of windows and doors for LWCAD, whether made by him for sale or a way for users to share with eachother. He liked the idea and said he'd implement it with LWCAD 3.

I think it's mentioned elsewhere, or in the release notes, but yeah, I tripped on that myself.
Another "gotcha", if you do the place / cut in anything BUT the perspective window, the frame will end up in the middle of the room. If you do it in the perspective by selecting the wall, it puts the window in the wall.

Yes I figured that out pretty quick when it started cutting the hole all the way through my building.
Something else I figured out: If you're using Vista you have to run Lightwave in Administrator mode or else you can't save to the LWCAD library. I actually have LW set up to always run in admin. mode now.

No prob, if you want to set it up to always run as admin right click the icon or shortcut for it, go to the Compatibility tab, check the box at the bottom "Run this program as an administrator".

Hey,
I've asked Viktor to add a functionality for ropes and chains and so. He said he will look into the idea and he said it could be added in v3.x.
Also, curves will no longer be limited to 7 or 8 points per time. They will be unlimited.
Guys, Viktor is GREAT (and LWCAD too :))! People who do architecture, buy this, it's a must.

He also mentioned it may be possible to join more then 2 curves and have it work with profiler (which currently will only join the geometry from 2 curves).
This may be useful for doing things such as ribbed vaulting where several supports join together at one base.

Absolutely! I've used it in I think every project I've done since I got the free version 1.5 with LW 9.0, whether architecture, or other objects, or characters.

Hi guys,
Sorry to bring this old thread up, but, I'm having a problem in that the windows I use are not properly alligned with the wall I create, the windows allways pop up on the x or z axis depending on where I clicked the wall !
Does any of you guys what I might be doing wrong here ?
Thanks.

That's not the reason UnCommonGrafx, it also happens with the native windows that come with LWCAD !
Also, isn't it a polyline that you have to create when you make your own windows/doors instead of a curve ?

I think it actually is a polyline, it's been a little while since I've used windows and doors, but that sounds familiar.

THought so, I created my own curved window and when I created a curve and tried to save it, it told me to create a polyline instead of a curve, so ...
Ive been doing some testing and when I create a wall fi 4m away from the x axis, add a window to it, the window is created on the x axis itself but, the whole is created in the wall !?!
This is done with standard windows which came with LWCAD 2.5, it also happens with the one I created myself !
I really have no idea what it could be ? Ive tried several things in the snap panel, but, it keeps on doing it !

Hi guys,
Just got an answer from Viktor, apparantly it was a simple reason why I didn't get the result I wanted.
You have to use the perspective view to put the window/door in the desired wall
Feel so stupid now, not having tried that :foreheads
Anyway, a very big thank you to Viktor for this really fast service reply.
I'm looking forward to LWCAD 3.0 !

Colkai actually said that in Post 4, then Robert said to check posts 3 and 4, then you said "that's not it". :p
