Hey,
DanD's disturbing thing test got me checking out the fast skin material. :D
DanD's thread is here: (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73798)
I doodled Specimen Jones and put him in a Dielectric case in front of a Real Lens Camera with a Zenitar Fisheye lens.
About ten minutes per 450x300 frame on a P4 HT 3Ghz.
The movie is an XviD-encoded AVI. Try VLC after unzipping if your other player gives you  (www.videolan.org).

Very picturesque, I can see that set next to Constable's "The Haywain". Its the texture of fleshy stuff through the ice that really "floats the boat" so to speak.
Great job.

Saw on norwegian telly that we were gonna sell some strange underwater creature-food to foreign countries,... is that one of them?(!)
Cool stuff :)

lardbros, Castius, sammael, thanks a lot!
agv, sorry! :hey:
jameswillmott, what squid? I want to see!
bluerider, thanks heaps! Agree with you on the :lwicon: shaders, and thanks for the art tip! Nice hi-res of the Hay Wain at Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hay_Wain).
erikals, hehe, I really really hope we're not selling these :D
Here's an earlier render of Specimen Jones outside the box, so to speak. Shows the slap-on texturing, though. :meh:
If I survive meeting the London Lightwave user group on Friday I'll take Jones to the WIP forum section and put him in a nicer case with a label on it and everything...

I'm sure I saw that thing crawling around in my bathroom the other day. Was wondering where it went.

pretty cool! looks like you have air bubbles around the interior object? looks very cool that way. Was it done on purpose?

You lucky Aussie! But I've got family in Australia, so this is now on the to-do list for the next visit :D
Thanks for the tip jameswillmott!

Thanks! No! :)
I didn't bother to make impurities in the encasing material (but will do later), so what you're seeing is just a bump and diffuse map with different kinds of scratches and stains (that look like bubbles).
