View Full Version : Suggestion: fit shirt collar to neck

Hi, first post here....

I've dabbled with LW over the years, but never done any modelling other than a few tutorials. I've just upgraded to 9.2 and I'm determined to get some results.

However, I have a fairly quick project that I'd like to do in LW (rather than Corel Draw, which is my "comfort zone"). I'm using Poser to create a body, FaceGen to create head (based on a real person), then compositing the two in LW.

The only hard part is fitting the neck of the FaceGen head into the shirt collar of the Poser body. I can scale it down so it fits "inside" the collar but this makes the neck too thin for the particular person. I'm going to need the neck to bulge out a bit over the collar.

What tool/technique would be good for this? I tried last night with Smooth Shift but it's not good at all. Specifically, I selected a band of polys around the neck - as close as I could get to the shirt line. It doesn't look at all realistic - the bulge does not look organic, plus it is not aligned with the collar.

cheers

Hmmm, it's always going to be difficult to create components seperately and then make them fit.
The best way to make geometry fit geometry is to copy some of the existing(collar) and start the new (the neck) from that.

To do what you are attempting, the best way is 'manual' pushing and pulling points using stretch, move and rotate among others.

Do you have subpatches on for the head? Youre basically on the right track but its just going to take some tweaking. Poser meshes are pretty dense which wont make it any easier.
