so 9.3 has the dielectric material in the Node Editor....great

anyone have any tips on how I can apply that to a object and make the Object appear to be photo realistic glass?

Ive been reading alot of posts here that say say "it has to reflect something" , "it all in the lighting" ect so I know that lighting and the Scene the object are in is critical....but I don't know how to construct the Scene.

This is for a print image, not animation.

It would be cool if I could have the effect of it being in a space with adequate reflections to create the glass effect but not a distracting scene. Like if it were on a photographers "product table" ---or is that impossible?

Hi JJShantell,

That is very good possible. You can model a studio scene and place your object in it, using luminous polies as softboxes.
Another methode is using a reflection map. At Dosch design they have a multitude of dvd's with that stuff: DoschDesignStuff (http://www.doschdesign.com/products/hdri/?PHPSESSID=b42fd4161f3f5038126a5b59e9d056af)
The HDR images can also be used for lighting but you can also use them soly on the reflection.
I've even seen some studio-set-up HDR images somewhere but couldn't find them so quickly.

This thread has some free material presets, tested times, and *a scene set up to light the object in the way you want*

If I try to use that scene and load my object into it my object comes in so small I cant see it. How to increase size of my object in that Scene?

Select the object and then press Shift h. this is the resize tool. drag to resize your object until it is appropriate...

Also check out your object's scale in modeler - when using nodes such as dielectric that use real-world physical properties, scale is important.

where do you check the scale in Modeler

It'll be shown in the lower left corner, where the position XYZ, HPR data normally is.
