I'm sure it's been covered and I'm probably missing something simple but I'm having a time getting an image map to cover a number of objects , with the same surface name, in the Scene Edit Mode.
OK, I have an object named Box1 and an object named Box2. They both have the same surface named "box". I can change both surface colors in the Scene Edit Mode and I can change the procederal surface of both with no problem but when I add an image map that I want to span both objects all I can get is the image map on one of the boxes, Box1 lets say. As I resize it the surface is only changing on Box1 and nothing on Box2 except the color and procedural changes I made.
What am I doin' wrong? Or is it a bug....I'm using 7.5 build 572

Did you hit "automatic size"?

Thanks for the response. Yes I did but it only auto sized inside box1 and it didn't didn't include box2. I tried sizing it manually and the image map would not include box2 as it grew in size. Maybe someone has another idea.

Yes you're right. But it won't for me. I can't figure it out. I assume this doesn't happen for you or anyone else who has read this thread.....????
Once again I'm in Scene Edit Mode in the Surface Editor and I have 2 objects named "Box1 & Box2" with the same surface name "box"......and you can read the rest in my previous post.....
I guess this is just a bug with my system...Thunder board, dual AMD 2gig, 1 gig of ram on Windows 2000 latest service pack.
Thanks anyway folks

If you have 2 different objects and each has a surface called box they are treated as different surfaces with the same name.
If you want the two surfaces to be seen as one you have to change the EDIT BY button from OBJECT to SCENE and it will ask you if you wish the surfaces with the same name to become one surface.

Once again thanks for replying. You seem like the only one who cares. Anyway....I guess I didn't make it clear in my first post that, that is what I did. The book calls it the "Scene Edit Mode"... anywho what you described in your last post is what I did and have been trying to do. It's in section 31.5 of the manual and as far as I can tell I have done what I need to do but..."it don't work!" At least for me....Once again I'm assuming you have done this with no problem??? Thanks again for taking the time with me.

Email me your scene and objects.
Well, It doesn´t work here either, If I understand you right, you have 2 boxes that are f.ex. 1*1*1m then you maybe put box2 on top of box1 that makes 2m high box, in Scene Edit Mode you hit automatic sizing and you expect to get a texture that is 1*2*1m but you still get 1*1*1m texture:( It seems that the only solution is to merge objects ie put them in the same layer :/

The objects are side by side. Box1 & Box2. I see color changes I make on both objects surfaces and procedural changes on both objects surfaces correctly but if I place an image map I only see it on Box1 objects surface.
It'll take awhile but I'll try to get the scene together and send it to SplineGod

I would load the image as a background. for reference and then use front projection mapping. It can be set up in modeler (texture guide wouldnt hurt) or in layout. Make the projection sticky
Its pretty straightforward. :)

That's a good idea. But it's a last resourt I should be able to do this in the Scene Edit Mode.
Any luck with the files I sent you? Or is this a BUG?
