I created this image from the old stories of the Jinee that was enslaved in the bottle for thousands of years. well this my version, it's when the Jinee fully forms or appears to the little Kid, very soon he will know that he will be a Master,

modo,LightWave-3D,ZBrush

I hope you all enjoy,

Your stuff never ceases to amaze. I really appreciate your choice of thematics too, the wonderous fairy tales from the middle east are a fantastic source of inspiration. Very well done.

I'd say the sand texture lacks a bit of definition and depth. nitpicking though :)

Dude that is sexy as hell, awesome modeling, I love the facial expression, is the model rigged or are even going to animate it.
That is definitely movie quality work, to say the least.
How many light did you have to use to get the lighting right.
Also I'm thinking about purchasing either Mudd box or Z brush3 which do feel is the best bang for the buck. I've heard pros and cons for both, but really wondering which is more user friendly, easiest to learn from tutorials etc...
and which program has the support for tutorials and the like.
Thanks for sharing the genie with us, and good luck with everything, and thank you taking the time to answer my questions concerning Z brush and mudd box

Very cool image! Did you render it in Lightwave or Modo? I assume Modo was used for any painting and sculpting work. Reminds a bit of a David and Goliath scene although it likely doesn't have anything to do with that since there is a genie in the scene.

My initial thought was that the Genie needed some subsurface scattering, but looking again it would be unrrealistic at that scale, and I really like how hard he looks (in every sense!).

The sense of scale is awesome, and for me it reall helped that I only saw the boy and seagulls as I scrolled down, so his size only became apparent gradually.

I absolutely love your style - you are in a class of your own in bringing the best aspects of a painted look to digital work.

Best pic |I have seen here in a long time.

What!! no the Kid is 3D, don't know what you mean? ah!! dont agree totally, LW is still part of my pipeline...... so it will stay like that since LW developers are still trying there best to give us new tools and newer options that will speed up the posses and better the result, not there yet.. but Sooon... the only difference today , is that my pipeline is Much Much bigger then 2002, the first time I really used 3D;)

so I am just having a blast..

Thanks for the nice words.. ;)

A wonderful image which really conveys an otherworldly atmosphere. I like the fact the kid is standing totally still - is he frozen with fear, awestruck or both? Glad you're not going for a totally photoreal approach, this has a unique painterly style.

Great to see such quality character work on the Lightwave forums.

hey khalid. I liked your last 2 creatures already very much but this is much better. Modeling & textures, arrangement of elements, background, smoke... you have executed everything exemplary. Very well done:)
