I've converted from Cinema 4D V7.02 to Lightwave 7 for 3 weeks. I only recently found the Lightwave Boolean tools and was amazed at how much smoother and more accuarate it was. Using this new found tool I managed to model a stapeler that was lying around on my desk. I would appreciate notes on the modelling. I have not textured it yet but I am planning to texture it in Body Paint 3D.Tips on setting up my scene would also be gratefully accepted. I've only been using Lightwave for 3 weeks so don't be to harsh on my poor modelling skills.

Here is an image of the geometry

that is a pretty good model, but it could be a little smoother. apply some smoothing and render a pic of it

I've smoothed the object a bit and I've aplied a texture and bump map to the metal.

Body Paint... drool..... I would love to see the outcome of the texturing. I just learned about Body Paint yesterday, and started saving my pennies today. Please post updates.....btw good modeling.

Thouugh this is unrelated to Boolean I though I might as well post it. Its a flat plane with, Displacment, Spectacular, Bump, Reflection and Transparency maps on it. Any ideas on how I could improve this scene would be gratefully accepted.

I presume it's supposed to be water?

Well water isn't blue (in general) thats one of the most obvious mis conceptions. I say that, but then i do live in England, if i lived in the pacific, then water colour would proabable be different!

Anyway water colour is generally dark, black sometimes brown, with lots of reflection

Yup. Water is blue down here, to be s'pacific. Except for muroa atoll, where the french test their WMD's (nuclear), then it's saturated green with 100% luminosity. lol

I've altered the colour channel and also brightened and editted the colour of the image using the image adjustment options in Photoshop and using the difference and overlay layer blending options. I'm now planning to use sprites and particles to create fog and rain effects. I'll hopefully post an update soon

I've created rain using Lightwaves Particle Effects (Sprites). I rendered the particle effects seperate from the sea scene and cut out the black background in Photoshop. I used photoshops Motion Blur and Glaussian Blur to create motion blur and Depth of Field effects for the rain. I comosited the rain particles from the black background and placed them on top of the main sea image. I still think t hat there is work to be done with the rain particles and sprites so any advice on improving the image would be gratefully accepted.
