I have a cold at the moment, these two images are of my feelings...well thats the excuse!

Feeling ill during the summer, that is so wrong!

Anyway, I was playin' around, bein' bored and all...and this is the fruition of my day in bed.

Between sleeping and trying to sleep, I came up with a random idea based on an image i saw when surfin' the net...ok so it aint great modelling (i don't think there is any modelling skill needed!) or amazing graphics...but its art, and i like it!

how did you set up the first pic. I'm trying to do very much the same bleaching light and warm blend......but it's not being friendly 0,o would love to know how you set it up.

Thankyou all for your comments! Quite suprising seeing how much effort i put into it!

ghazghkull: You have two options,

1. You can use volumetric lights, and post production effects using programs such as photoshop! This is very good for precision composition, but if you want to do a quicky, go to option 2...

2. Here's the secret, I used three spots. That many because I was playing around with an idea. Anyway, I had the spots concentrated in one area, the front of the cube. Now this is the clever part (you might have to be slighty artistic to get this!) Think opposites. I kept the background as black and highlighted areas with light i wanted to be coloured! Using not very much light, I then put on the "negative" post production doohicky. Which gave me the required effect!

Off course this can screw up colours, so I wouldn't advise using it in a complicated scene!

Now then, I might just play around with composition and see what i can come up with!

Ok, just to back up the previous comment i made!

The first image is with "negative" off, the second with "negative" on.

Hope thats useful! If it isn't just post a reply and say how miffed you are at my naff pics...or if you want to slag me off!

Messed around a bit with a couple objects that cast shadows on themselves had a bit of trouble with them 0,o, and had to get used to shinny stuff working against me heh, but I got it. Ended up messing with diffusion and turning off everything but recived shadows. in the end it looks fine. heh thx again had never thought about seting up a scene sorta backwords like that =P
