I recently transfered my old copy of LW 7.5 to a new PC (Running Windows XP). This required me to create a new key file with my old license key number. Everything seemed fine until I noticed that the hub was not seeing either Layout or Modeler. Additionally hitting the "F12" from layout failed to open modeler. Finally the options in Modeler to synch with layout or send an object to layout are ghosted out. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to make the hub run on this pC?

It won't until you've run Layout and Modeler at least once. Run them, quit and run them again and Hub should be able to switch between, etc...

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have tried that and the problem persisted. I'll check it again this evening. My next guess is to copy some of the files on the old computer (under Lightwave/Program Files) to the newwer machine and see what that yields.

Woah! "Copy some of the files"? Did you not install it from your 7.5 CD?

Later versions of Windows XP have more aggressive firewalls that will block the hub...

I've turned of all the Firewall (Windows and MacAfee) and still no luck. It looks like I might have to get used to life without the hub.

Tim:
Do you have a Config directory set up?

No. No I did not set up a Config directory.
I spoke with NewTek tech support. They advised me to remove some config files such as lw3, lwm3, lwExt3 and lwhub3. Unfortunately, I was at work and could not work with hime interactively. I removed those files when I got home. However the problem has persisted.
I've shut off all firewalls and I am re-installing now. Fingers crossed. Of course after the install I'll have to create a Key file again with the proper code (of course I forgot to save that before removing Lightwave).
Thanks for all these suggestions I do appreciate them. I imagine my problem is probably a bit on the rare side.

the re-install was unsuccessful. I don't know if this is important, but the computer that I'm installing lightwave on is not linked to the net.
