View Full Version : SE Patch Out
I just checked (and downloaded) a SE 1.0 Vista patch for those that are interested. Since it says "Vista" I do not think its anything more than an update to support Vista - perhaps NT will enlighten us soon?

That's all that the SpeedEDIT patch does, Jeff - it tells Vista to disable the Aero interface while SpeedEDIT is running.
Why? Is arrow just too much of a resource hog?

The non-tearing, simulated fielding, etc that our output window does conflicts with having the whole UI painted in 3D. The timing is borked (technical term) and the video card chokes.
We are working on letting Aero handle some of this if it is available, but for right now avoidance is the best solution.

You know Paul, I installed, reinstalled, installed, reinstalled the patch, and SpeedEdit, because every time I install the Patch, I see no difference in the actual .exe of SpeedEdit. The same size the same time stamp.
You should have told us.
It is not wonder SpeedEdit working with non-Aero Vista.
