I regularly edit huge projects: 3-day legal conferences.

I have to use SpeedEdit because they are recorded on a Tricaster.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
There is a certain point on the timeline where I'll lose all audio! The clips will play fine and I know they have audio, but it won't play through the speakers and won't render with audio.

Any advice or suggestions? THis is a SUPER pain in the *** as I have to start rearranging clips like puzzle pieces to get them to play.

What format are the clips?
Are there any different audio types in the area that doesn't play audio?
Is it the same clips that don't play audio every time or does it change?
Have you ever had this problem before or just on this project?

Have you tried a clean exit, restart the computer, then re-load the project? I ask because on various edit applications I've seen people have problems for days, then after a re-boot everything is AOK and they don't see the problem again
Is the audio showing on the SE meters?

You might try and cut the clips in half and see if that helps???
You might also copy ONLY the offending clips to a new project and see if they don't play there either.

Give us more info and I wish you luck.

If the VU meters are moving, it's probably the audio drivers.

If they don't move, I'd like to get an example clip. Any information you can give me about the files that cause this would be great. Codec, etc.

Thanks,
John

I don't know how "huge" your files are, but it really sounds like a memory problem. You stated your clips work at first and that you must rearrange them in order to get the other clips to work. Could it be a file size problem?
