View Full Version : Curious: Does DVD Workshop Accept NT-25 or SpeedHQ Files from NewTek?

I'm thinking DVD WS 2 SE wants to see an AVI file -- and certainly not a project file from SpeedEDIT or from VTEdit.
Moreover, I'd hazard a guess, that DVD Workshop 2 SE wouldn't know what in the world to do with a NewTek SpeedHQ file.:D
Where might I be wrong on any of the above? Just a lingering curiosity I have. TIA!

No, there is no loader for SpeedEDIT VTP projects directly into DVD Workshop 2 SE. Just as there is no loader for SpeedEDIT VTP projects directly into TMPGEnc, either.
Of course, there are these loaders for VT-EDIT projects.
We really need a VTP loader for SpeedEDIT, especially for going directly into TMPGEnc for the superior MPEG-2 quality and speed of encoding there.
SpeedHQ is a normal AVI codec, and should be able to be used by any program that uses AVIs. I haven't tried it with DVD Workshop 2, but I have used it with other programs.

Ah, I see. Thanks for your assist yesterday, Eugene. I take it that the primary advantage in going the "loader" route, is that one gets to encode direct to the destination format, without jumping through a premature render to AVI.
Plus, there's the added *possibility* that the DVD authoring program just *might* be able to take project markers and utilize them for setting up chapter points, as is the case with DVD Architech (I believe).
I extrapolated all that from my interpretation of your posts over the past year or so, Eugene. Would I be correct on all of the above? Again, thanks in advance (TIA) to you, and to anyone else who cares to chime in here! :hey:

Correct on all of the above.
(Though note that the markers to chapter points from VT-EDIT to DVD Architect relies on the AVI Wrapper, slightly different from a dedicated VTP loader.)
You can use Bobs Chapter Points to export VT4's markers into a text
file that you can use. I import them directly into TMPeg for encoding and use as IFrames.

Bob,
Does your plug-in force TMPGEnc to place an I-Frame at each marker in the VT4 project?

Yes, that is exactly what Bob's plug-in does. It generates a list of frames where project markers are that is loaded directly into TMPGEnc.
