i'm thinking the mouth's mesh density is far too hi now...may delete that part n rebuild it much simpler..

I think you're going in the right direction with the mouth.

Getting rid of the "lantern jaw" also helps. Male anime characters often have feminine features.

Can't wait to see more!

thanks!

just updated the eye socket...see above

re males have feminie features...yeah just want to stay away form ffadvent children look...males looked odd to me!

i may try brting in the jaw up to make a more normal shape.....just want to keep it male looking though!

It doesn't look human to me. The jawline is extremely odd and the proportions are extremely distorted. I'd start by adjusting your eye line, making the jaw wider and making the chin a little stronger.

Are you going to be doing it cellshade or raytraced? Do you have any character sketches or reference material?

The girl looks good, with the bloke I think the eyes are too far up on his head, they should be around the center of the head, the chin looks too narrow and so does the jaw. The chin looked better in the images towards the top of the page. Looking at the last anim you posted I recon you could select the eye area and just move it down, leaving everything else where it is and it would start to look better. You should find some ref pics for the neck area right now it looks strange, the muscles flow in the wrong direction.

hands..now really don't enjoy editing hands!
this 'will do'' for now...i don't plan on any tight camera shots on the hands so most of the time this is actually over modeled...the proportions are okay...i threw in a hand from a poser mesh in the bg to reference the size/proportions....btw i edited the point on the thumb in the hidden line pick after i screengrabbed it!

...at least that 'pain' is ticked off as done for now!

this is for the girl character btw so no comments on the nails being totally ''off'' for the male character!

btw i'm leaving the male character for now...i may have a bash at a new one with some reference images from zone of enders to look at.

Funny you ask for critique yet dont seem to acknowledge what people say, at least it would appear so. People are putting in the effort to help, its common courtesy to al least make a minimal response their imput particularly if your the one who asked for it in the first place.

thanks:) ...as i said above i'm leaving the male character for now...either will come back to it at a later date or will start one anew, this time with som,e reference images so i don't stray off tangent like i did in this one

cheers

Maybe you misunderstood, all I mean to say is when people go to the effort to crit your work as I and others have done in this thread its always nice to know that the thread starter took some notice of what you said and valued your imput (or not) instead of ignoring it....
No need to go on a rampage digging up relics from the past :)

i always take alook at what people have done and can do when they take the time to have a look at what i'm upto..you've done some good stuff...just found your ogre model [did a search on the forums] ...nice model and you know what your on about too..even oddity like it!...so you must be amazing!

thanks for your imput and cheers!

I guess a little strange the facial modeling!
Some parts of the body have many polygons like the humps of girl!
I guess the faces need more modeling work and the body need more mesh studies!
Keep working!!

Well, i didnt think he looked very anime untill i saw the cell shading. Looks good.
If you rounded the jaw, minimised the chin, he would look more classic anime.

cheers chaps...as for 'humps n bumps'..my female character is pretty flat chested...sorta 'a cup' if you will!

as for faces...i'm pretty happy with the girl..the chap is on a back burner...i made that with no reference so it went off tangent abit...he'll probably go and be a background character once i edit him a bit more.

as for body, the girl's waist doesn't 'go in' enough i think...need a small tweek there.

back on pushing this a bit more foward...

stitched the hands on and made a quick 360 spin using the advanced camera and real motion blur....

Nice the body look all fine
but seeing i have to crit i have to say- check your profile
a good profile makes the anime look !! :D
http://the.animearchive.org/ahmygoddess/10/bell_profile.jpg

you need to have a stronger profile that's easy to side from the side, and curves smoothy around the face. it's hard to work out in 3D but yours needs alittle more work. do some google image searchs they are alot of options in anime ( the pic i posted was just an exsample ;)

your need the nose to be pushed out more and the eyes and face need to be pulled back twisted alittle to get a smoother profile from all points of view

Hope it helps

Good points, t4d!

The body does look good for anime, the faces unfortunately really dont. Some referencing from Manga or Anime artists of your choice should help a lot. I would recommend looking at Hayao Miyazaki's work(Anime and Manga) for a somewhat mellower or Masamune Shirow (in this case check out the Manga, not the Anime) for a more agressive style, whatever it is you are looking for. There is so much quality Manga/Anime out there its hard to make a solid recommendation. Ranma 1/2 is has a really neat style too.

t4d: Is that Belldandy from "Oh My Goddess!" ?

cheers t4d...i'll have alook and pull her around abit..also no too happy with her hair...what's there was a placeholder to she had some 'hair'...also she needs eyebrows and basic ears...and a inner mouth, tongue n teeth...plenty to do on the head then!....once done i'll need to give her some outfits to wear..casual stuff, uniform and a eva suit.
