Hi All,

I'm about to get my new BOXX system that is set up for LW and VT. (Ohboyohboyohboyohboy) I'm producing some pilot episodes of an all animated TV show and I want to make extensive use of Digital Juice Jumpbacks and Sonic Foundry Acid Loops. I'll be recording the voiceovers into Wavelab. When installing these three programs on the new system, are there any pointers that anyone can suggest for optimizing performance? I assume that I should follow the same pattern that is used for LW and VT - the program on the system drive and the data on the RAID drives.

Thanks!

TW

If you have a second general-purpose drive, you could set it up as your storage area.

That way, you keep all your apps on C:, your archived video, voice and music data files on D:, and all of your "hot" material on your array.

Also make sure that your drive controllers are using DMA or UDMA. If you have a CD or DVD drive, put them on the second IDE channel, separating them from the channel your hard-drives are using.

BTW, I just purchased a nice selection of Digital Juice's JumpBacks, BackTracks, and their Editor's Toolkit. I very impressed with the quality of their products.

I'm also a fan of Acid Music, but I'm only starting with it on my home computer. I hope to be good enough with it to bring it into the studio environment.

Thanks OBroschart,

I appreciate the advice. I'm curious though, why did you buy the Editor's Toolkit from Digital Juice? What does it do that you didn't see in the VT editing tools?

Thanks,

Tom

Oh, gosh, the Editor's Toolkit is awesome! It provides motion backgrounds, and some [b]very[/i] high-quality lower-thirds that'll make you smile!

There is nothing in the Video Toaster content that comes close.

As Paul mentions, ETK is a content package and is complementary to VT's tool set, not a replacement.

It features sets of loopable, animated backdrops with matching mattes and lower thirds with alpha channel.

It's quite a time saver and works great in TED.
