Here's a scene I whipped up day before yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for making it more photo-real. I like the way it looks now, it will serve my purpose, but it's a bit aggrevating that I can't get it to look more like an outdoor scene.

Here's the same image after some tweaking in Aura...

perhaps add some damage to the model of that brick... they're quite brittle and you'll notice that most real bricks dont look near as perfect as yours does... take some nice size chunks out of it, esp at the corners/ edges. Also the texturing on the brick looks a bit to regular and defined to me, maybe it's right but it seems like that it should be more random.
also you may want to add more variation to to the colors of the bricks that are in the stacks.. normally there is at least some variation from brick to brick. Also you may want to consider changing the orientation of the bricks every few layers, as each couple layers are stacked differently for stability purposes.
if possible make a trip down to a local brickyard and you'll see what i mean.

I did make a mistake on the brick cubes in my haste; I forgot that the 3rd row from the bottom has the end bricks turned sideways.
Thanks for pointing that out.
And I think you're right about the variations in colors on the brick cubes. I really didn't do a very good job on them, as they were a last minute addition and I just didn't give them the attention I should have.
I used jitter when I made the brick to make it look a bit rougher. The textures on it are from an actual brick I scanned in; they're not repeated. I'll take it into modeller and beat it up a bit.
Thanks again for the observations!
