The task has been put to me to get info on systems that can put in
lower thirds, logos, intros and outros for live event recording.

here's the cathc though. this would not act as a switcher, but would be receiving the signal after the switcher but before the recording decks and our webstreamer.

this is to cut post production time to "0" and have to a ready to go DVD after the event, after duplication of course...

so would the VT4 act as a linear editor in a sense? and woule there be time lag, or any other problem....

Yes, it can do that. It can also take over the job of the switcher if you choose, but it can do CG downstream of a switcher, as well as playback and switch in intros and outtros with no problem. It can record the whole thing on its own hard drives, or feed it out to a DVD or tape recorder, or do both at the same time. It can also do the webstreaming as well.
