This is really simple I'm sure, but I've only just started messing with MD, and I'm trying to recreate the scene from the scenes/features/motion designer folder with the ball displacing a flag. I've copied all the settings exactly, but the ball just goes straight through the flag very time. I've even tried following the simple tutorial in the Lw manual by dropping a cloth onto a ball, but the cloth won't even move when I hit start!
All I had to do was turn target on for the cloth, turn collision on for the ball, and put gravity to y=-1. How could I possibly be doing anything wrong?

I know this is a stupid question...but do you have the objects set to "Last" so they deform? Just thought I'd ask...

Nah, that's not the problem, in the example scene both objects are set to first. I'm getting it to work now, but only when I started using the included ball and cloth objects, instead of making my own. Guess I'll have to go figure out where I went wrong in making mine now)

Hey...Hi...if you pay close attention to the Newtek Collision Sample Scene, you'll notice that the objects used are not SDS Objects, which is why deform is set to first, 'cuz it wouldn't matter anyway...if the objects you have made are Subpatched, you definitely need to set deform to last...if that is not the source of your trouble, also consider that you need to have more points in your Target object (the cloth) than your Collision Object (the ball)...try subdividing your target object until the cloth object is about 1200 polys, and keep the ball at about 250 polys...then run the simulation...remember that if the objects are Subpatched that you do need to set deform to last...I had these troubles back in the day, so I know your pain, but the things I suggested were suggested to me and I have had no trouble since...so good luck...wishing the best...from the void...j.p.rapscallion...
