trouble importing wav files

I have been unable to import an audio wav file. I get the following errors:

This Direct Sound call is not valid for the current state of this object.

and
Null pointers on subroutine call.

Can anyone please explain what these errors are and how to correct them to get audio into Lightwave?

Sounds liek poor audio card drivers (non DirectX compliant) or you triy to use a wrong file. Remeber: 44 kHz 16 bit Stereo is the only format LW will accept.
