View Full Version : Dielectric with an oily thin film effect-thanks to James Willmott for node help!

A thin film effect node setup- (largely created by James Willmott with mastermind input from Dpont!), blended with dielectric for a more complex surface-using a node created by James called "Splitter". I'm becoming more and more pleased with the power of the node system! Enjoy!

That looks great, have you tried it with conductor?

How did you do it?

Wow this looks much better than the other posting you have. Gotta get a handle on the node editor!!

Can we see some wider angle shots? I would like to see some caustics effects from this object onto another surface.

Thanks Parm.

Not yet- but I plan to

Thanks Mr. Maze.

Wide Angle? Certainly.

LOL!

Maybe LW needs a shader to imulate that Japanese censoring style-with large blurred pixels? :tsktsk: Or maybe the Apple colored progress pinwheel? That would look cool!

I like the effect.
Has James released the Splitter? Can't find it:cry:

Thank you! Thank you!
I tried searching for it but got too many results to comb through.
Love them nodes!:D

... maybe I need to understand how it works! :D

Splitter is great!
This combines dielectric with IFW2 regional nodes. Obviously needs some tweaking & took 16hrs to render, but it looks darn interesting!
Thanks James & Eric!

Thanks warrenwc. James' splitter should be a main LW node, IMHO. It's wonderful!

It's already a great thing to have that for free but is there a chance to have a 64 bit version of the splitter node one of these days?
