Hiya all!

I decided to make something different from metal monsters and mutated body builders, so i made a western themed pin-up girl.
Time budget was a a free week.

My aim was to create a non-photoreal, pin-up style real time character with bit of similarity to style of Final Fantasy X-2 or DoA games.

In case you want to see more, here are a few close-up shots of various details, weapons and different poses.

Close-up of upper torso and head:

In case links above don't function for some reason, you can also try:

Some info:

- Real time model, approx. 13,000 polys (with weapons), could be lot less too but this runs nicely in a 3d engine.
- Modeled, mapped, vertex weighted and rendered in Newtek's Lightwave.
- There are also a few facial morphs to animate face, these are used to change expression on the face in renders.
- Renders are unlit, unshaded so you can see the "bare" model + texture without any "fake" illumination, fixes or post effects as an extra sugar on top of the cake :).
- Textures are hand painted in Photoshop and some noise patterns were made with help of pattern maker in Ps.
- Quick skelegon setup was made to pose the character.
- Modeling time: 1.5 days / uv mapping: 1 day / textures: 2 days / vertex weights: 1 day.
- C+C welcome!

P.S. i'm looking for a job.

Very good, might want to give her more to cover her modesty though!

might want to give her more to cover her modesty though

Which part is that and what angle has the closest view of it?

:D

If its meant to be a high poly count, how come i can still count them, ie i can see most of the poly edges etc. and how is this FF style?

and there is a line from the crotch to the leather thing on her right leg from the texturing.

Because hi poly count does not mean you would not see the polygon edges. It simply means it is a real time model that contains a lot of polygons.

This is especially cool because I know nothing about creating things for games. Any more info about the model and it's creation would be cool.
How about a wireframe shot?

I think she would look great in a game.

Yep: it`s a good`n.

However, with 13K polys to play with I`d model the tassels on the sleeves. What`s it going to cost you: an extra 200 polys? It`s a steal!

Sorry I really don't like it at all. I can't think of anything nice to say so I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for c+c.
Last night i had time to work on this model for a few hours.
I made compact versions of textures to get more efficient texture memory usage as someone suggested to me on cgchat.
Here are the compact texture pages, amount is now reduced from 5 to 3... In case you want to see how it affects the overall look there's a link to a re-render of one of those frames i posted earier.

http://www.saunalahti.fi/~olmirad/renders/cowgirl_002_compact_textures.jpg

I also made some fixes to the arms based on feedback i got from some other forums :) they are now bit more thicker and the tassels are bit more widely spaced...

Gizmopop: Yep it was quite heavy inspiration (too), but i got the idea to do this after seeing Masamune Shirow's Wild Wet West artwork... If this links works there might be a few thumbnails on this page:

No metanurbs version yet. I'm not sure if i have motivation to work on this more :)
