Old Scenes New again

I have been away from the lw fold for awhile and just started fooling around with 9.2 and really like what I am seeing. I rendered a scene originally done in lw 7.5. At the time I just let the render go all night. These recent renders were done in under 5 minutes. Wow is all I have to say. I used a HDR map to illuminate the scene.

First Image:

Rays per: 48
Indirect Bounces: 1
Min. Eval. 20mm
AA 12

Rendered on a Amd XP3000/ 2gig of ram.

Second image with reall world dof. I only changed the AA to 24 otherwise it has the same settings as above.

You can ramp up the speed of those renders much more by choosing a far lower AA like 2 or 4, turn on adaptive sampling with 0.02 or 3 as threshold and choosing a nice reconstructing filter like mitchell or mitchell soft.

Thanks for the commment. I did try your settings and cut about 30 seconds off the render time. Like I said, I have just come back to the lw fold after some time. I need to read my lw 9 manuals and actually get a feel of some of the changes from version 7 (the last version I owned).
