Look at the Audi made by Meni in the Lightwave Content directory, study what he did with the surfaces

To get that luscious glossy look try:

1) Control reflections using a gradient incidence angle i.e. more reflective at 0 degrees and less at 90 degrees

2) You could do the same with colour to give that two-tone paint effect

3) Maybe try adding the Thin Film shader too

Look at a car with a paint job you're trying to acheive and ask yourself why it looks the way it does, as Pixelranger once said, "your eyes are your best tool" (or something to that effect!)

Read these tutorials on texturing they will give you a good understanding of how materials are simulated in LW.

texturing_for_dummies_004 (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/surface/texturing_for_dummies_004/index.html)

(BTW: Not trying to suggest you're a dummy, that's what the tutorials are called! :) )

Hope that helps!
