Been working on this on and off for a few months now. It's and idea for a short kiddies skit. Used the spinning lights trick and a few area lights and points. Sort of struggled to get the look I was after, this came out ok-ish, still a lot to do though. Struggled with the lighting and still not 100% happy. Still WIP though. 8.5 render time 1.5 hours. 9.2 Beta 14 render time 30 minutes. Lekker speed gain, thank goodness.

Obviously this would be a static camera shoot, with composited foreground action.

Check out the LW content items :)

Lighting tips welcome. Obviously not going for photorealism here :hey:

Nice work. I like the luminous panels and the interior design.

The lighting looks good, though perhaps you need to pull the camera back as it looks slightly claustrophobic in there. Maybe if the anchorage was more obvious the scene would have more impact. If you could make the moon stand out more it might help.

This is a great render, the lighting looks good to me but lighting is not one of my strong points (yet). Im not a big fan of the lense flare, I find stars are better represented with luminous glowing points or spheres with the occasional tiny lens flare representing brighter stars. Even if you want to keep the lens flare i dont think its current position compliments your scene.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments.

bobakabob: The moon does look kinda insignificant, now that you mention it. I can't go wider in this set though, there's kinda nothing to show, but check out the included render for an idea of the scale to character..

sammael: I agree, the lens flare is a bit OTT. Just need to get some more stars in there, ag and with a bigger moon, probably wont need that many.

the set render looks so sweet it's like candy! Very nicely done. I wanna take a bite out of that render......

That's a reallly nice look. The backscatter from the luminous panels works really well - and I'm sure I've seen that trike and little red wagon someplace before ;)

Your planetoid looks about 2 metres across through - maybe a bit more Sharp Terminator would help, and a bit of a lighting tweak? Unless it's, y'know, two metres across. Keep plugging, though, it's looking really nice!
