stickering a surface

It's the small things that can elude one. Im working a pooltable and want to place the logo on the side. As a surface i have a dark grey plastic surface through a bumpmap. The logo is pure white but when i place it onto the surface and alpha the background (which is black) the logo goes black. Logical. Im not a master at surfacing and maybe i'm missing something obvious but i cant seem to figure this one out.

Any help would be appreciated.

More info on your set up would be helpful. Are you using layers or nodes? Also give a better picture of how you have it set up exactly.
