I am doing an animation of a logo that is going to be rendered using the Swift 3D plugin for flash.

The logo is pretty basic (attached). I want it to break into many polygons and for each polygon to fly off camera, kinda like a dandylion in the wind, if you know what I mean.

For this however I am going to have to animate each polygon individually, I was wondering if there is a way of distributing polygons to layers in modeller, so I can achieve this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just cut-n-paste each poly to a new layer. Besure to name the layers in a way that makes since for. I wouldn't parent them in modler though, I would create a null in layout and parent each of the meshes layer to it, that way you can rotate, move them as a whole, and then animate each plane individually.

Hope that helps.

for such a basic model I would use the technique fourd mentioned, but for larger objects there's the plugin Piece of Cake

that'll do the job nicely! :D

Once u have them seperated u could animate them using PFX or MD im sure, using a wind effect to blow them, Iv never done it myself but im sure theres some examples of this sort of thing.
