Hi Guys,
I'm trying to piece together a system for a VT purchase in January.
All the specifications ive found seem to say Dual Xeon, SCSI, lots of RAM and good graphics etc.
What are your thoughts on SATA? If i raided together 4 SATA 320gb drives, would that not be sufficient and more cost effective than 4x 76gb scsi?
How about QuadCore Intel rather than Xeon? I was speaking to a techie down at the local computer hardware superstore (not a pcworld type) and he said instead of going Dual Xeon and having to shell out around £500 for board, £700 each CPU, go Intel QuadCore and only spend around £300 on board and £550 on CPU?
Also, ive been trying to find a case that would be suitable. Lots of people say the only way to go is Server Case based, but what about a big workstation case? I already have one with fan/temp control unit and lots of HDD bays etc.
Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
If you can help me piece together a good solution I would be more than greatful.
Cheers,
Martin
