I recieved a Job in which i promised a Customer to do a very High Res Render (15000x4500 Pixel). I have to do the same model 30 Times with a different Texture Map. So I created a Texture Map (UV) with the size of 16000x16000 Pixel).

After testing the Render with a smaller Resolution i found no way to do the render with my machine. Although Newtek promises render output sizes up to 16000x16000 Pixel Lightwave always tells me: "not enogh memory for frame buffers". This also occurs when using segmented rendering with different amount of memory given to each segment. My machine has 2GB of Ram and load of swap space.
I can achieve Rendering the image by panning the camera over the scene and then stitching the image together in Photoshop, but this is too much work for more than 30 renders. So im pretty desperate.

Is ther another way to complete my Job? Did i try everything? Should i switch to Maya which a friend told me renders better in Very High Res Print?

Thankfull to any advice

Just a few quick tips:

a) Set your segment size to something like 0,5 mb or whatever - the smaller the better.

b) Do not render from Layout, use Screamer Net.

c) Split up your extremely large texture if possible. Somehow LW can handle more smaller images better than one big file (even though the overall RAM usage may be even greater.

c) Turn off texture Antialiasing if possible, 'cos the MipMaps also take up extra RAM.

As for splitting up your image - there are some Scripts that might make this task easier. I think there is even a comb that will assemble your images automatically. If that doesn't help, switching to another app is the only way (I hate myself for having to say this and beg pardon from all Wavers ;) ).

Ya can't cheat it is a print job...(i assume from size)
http://www.rayserver.com/ this might help?

You might want to drop a line to Alain Bertrand hazard3d@yahoo.com at Almeto, he might be able to give more detail on rendering large sizes.

Or try this as Alian also pointed out in another post;

Good luck!

You could try using Limited Region and render segments out and then stich them together in Photoshop...

does the mapped image truely need to be that large? 733Mb IS a big file!

all suggestions so far are spot on. a couple more to throw into the mix:

Genuine Fractals Print Pro - http://www.lizardtech.com - for oversizing images.

split your scene up with the plug suggested by Kenmac (it's great!) and send it to - http://www.respower.com - use as many machines as you have segments (the more the better) and let them take the strain.
