Hi all,
my version of that marvellous Gerry Anderson / Derek Meddings space ship, Thunderbird 3.
This is definitely the shiny version, I'll be working on a dirtied down version right now.
I wanted something finely detailed, which gave me the problem of adding detail that is not in the original. I'd particularly appreciate suggestions along these lines.
The panels are done with IFW2 shaders.

Nice! As you say, a little shiny at the moment, but I'm sure the finished version will look a lot better than the one in the old TV show :).

Now that's very nice. Funnily enough I just tasked myself with modeling the set starting with TB1 which I started a couple of days ago.
Not had much time to work on it so nothing like as detailed as yours. I'll post a picture later if I can.
have you done any of the others?

Thanks for the kind words - I did Thunderbird One some years back, but it was not terribly good.
I'd really like to do Thunderbird 2, but have no idea how to tackle those complex curves.
If you do decide to do TB1, and need good reference material let me know - I have a Japanese modelling manual with some very neat plans, (sadly only top and side, not end views, but still very handy for backdrops in modeler).

The only reference material I had was some pics I found on the net and none of them were square on, so it was a bit of a struggle.
Not thought too much about TB2 yet. I still have the texturing of One to finish off. And I fancy seeing how it would animate.
Thinking splines may be an option for two and as I'mterrible with splines it could be a good way to learn.

Here's the basic plans I used - others available if thought useful by anyone here...
