hey all. so im trying to find a way to have, lets say, a sphere, move under, say, a peice of plastic sheeting. (bugs moving under skin?) so the effect is that you see the deformations that the bugs are causing under the sheet of plastic/skin/watever.

i have done some quick rough tests with softFX, but everything seemed to giggly with that, so i switched over the clothFX, which was better, but then the cloth always seemed to have a bit of residual flowing movement.

so the ideal effect is that i can pres something up into the sheet and have it deform nicely, with a nice falloff around the deformation (not an exact imprint of the object), and that it can move around and not cause the sheet to react in wierd ways.

suggestions? (celshader, im hoping u will once again bless me with ur knowledge :) )

thanx all!

An image map deformation linked to a Null reference object.

Or you can use an effector, in the displacement plugin list.

i tried effector... it seems like the falloff isnt consistent, or just not what i want. perhaps the image map null deformation would b a good route. ill try it. thanx optimus!

I would also go the displacement map route using a gradient with the input parameter set to distance to object (null). If you want to leave displaced trails use the free marker pen plugin: http://perso.orange.fr/dpont/plugins/Textures.htm
