Anyone using tricaster to stream a scheduled playlist? How are you doing it?
I have checked out the plug at http://www.youngmonkey.ca/ which looks great... but I need something that will auto schedule from a database of movies.

We have found that smaller VT systems are a better solution for scheduled playback. The price is more or less the same as a TriCaster. I am not saying that a TriCaster will not do the job but it depends on your needs. A VT can have much more hard drive storage space and be configured in a RAID5 failsafe setup.
We sell a scheduling product for the VT called the Digital Broadcaster. It can do quite a bit more than Dhomas's plugin but it does cost more. There again it all depends on your needs. If you need to just playback files then a TriCaster and Dhomas's plugin might do the trick. If you need to control external routers, switch up to 24 inputs, automatically place bugs, crawls and use motion lower thirds then Digital Broadcaster would be for you.

I will just throw my 2 cents worth in on this. The youngmonkey product is awesome. It works.
I run a PEG channel with the youngmonkey software and a VT system. It runs 24/7/365.
The initial setup took me a little bit but I have been very pleased with the results.
I have tried some other scheduling software and had limited success.
I am not sure how the software works in a Tricaster. With regard to playing movies at random from a library you would have some initial front end work but after that it should be minimal updating.

Thanks for the info Jef and Rmarq. I think both solutions will work for the playback.. the trick is going to be finding the right scheduling software.

We are releasing an update to our Scheduler for VT and TriCaster (PRO) later this week, and are always interested to here requests of features needed from customers. We have also done custom development.

You might look into the Airbox, by Playbox at playbox.com, I believe. We're running a Cable TV channel on it in the Caribbean. It can do either DV or MPEG, and you can schedule days of the week, loops, hard start times, fills, roll-overs, etc.

MultiZone is the most powerful and cost-effective choice for PEG channels and digital signage applications ... for one simple reason: all graphics content design and creation is done using PowerPoint.
We have been working with this since June. We love it. Remote schedule works great and they have been very good with support.
