Greetings!
This could also be titled "No Solicitors."
I actually made this project because I've never tried the whole "using HyperVoxels to make fluid-like effects" thing before. You know, that old chestnut. After rendering around the clock for several weeks, I think I've got it out of my system now.
Here is the 1.5 MB MPEG-4 Animation at 320x240 (http://www.Carm3D.net/media/Shanty.MP4)
You'll need Quicktime v6.x or the RealOne player to play this. Right-Click and do the "Save Target As..." thing if you need to. Or you can view it from my website where it has proper Quicktime embedding so it'll play nicely. (architecture gallery)
And here is the 5 MB MPEG-2 Animation at 720x480 (http://www.Carm3D.net/media/Shanty.MPG)
If you have the hardware to play MPEG-2 streams out to your TV, I highly recommend this version!!
Here are a few images of what the animation looks like:

Be happy!

I just watched the mp4/Quicktime. Now that made me laugh!!! :D I like it!
The approaching camera looks good. Was that a plug-in or did you manually set keyframes.

Kind of a combination of both. I used a null object with 6 "Noisy Channel" motion modifiers (X,Y,Z,H,P,B). Each of them had various offsets.
Then I used another null to act as a switch. Using expressions, the shakiness of the noisy-channeled null is applied to the camera (times the x-position of the switch null.. so when it's at 0, nothing is applied). It's a neat little trick I learned watching one of my Desktop Images training videos.

Hey wavers!
I've just uploaded the FULL sized NTSC version in MPEG-2 format. If you have the ability to view MPEG-2 (DVD) streams on your television, this is the way to go!
(Link is in the first message of this thread)
Now you can see why it took so long to render!! :D

Voxellary Reflux.
Nice real nice.
no really the lighting is great and camera movement good and its fun.
Where is this going??? just a test? just for fun? Or is it part of TIII !

Thanks Wade,
It's going nowhere. It was just a test to make HV's do that "fluid thang." Something I've never done before.

Woops.. I had the link wrong for the MPEG-2 version. They were both linking to the same thing. It's fixed now. Sorry about that!

I like it.
I use alot of fluid in my animations and found it a pain to use hypervoxels, even though I did for quiet some time, but eventually found Real flow.
It is a great fluid system and renders way faster then Hypervoxels
since it is converted into surface normals.
IMHO looks better too.
:)
But it is really neat to see hypervoxels doing thier thing.
Just wanted to let you know in case you did not already.
Keep up the cool work.

Thanks Intuition.
I've heard of RealFlow and seen animations from it. It's very impressive! I did not know it manipulates surface normals. That's clever.
Until my little company gets off the ground, I can't afford something like RealFlow, however.
It will happen eventually.

Hello I'm trying to download Quicktime by using the link on your site it worked the first time I tried it but due to my slow connection speed I had to stop half
way through, But now when I go through the exact same method a second time It dosen't seem to do anything, I've checked my download manager and allthough it recognises it being there it dosen't seem to download as in there is no activity (kbps ect) any ideas so I can view your work?

Hmm.. Perhaps go into Control Panel and use "Remove Programs" to un-install quicktime and try it again from the start?

Thanks it turned out that it was just extremely slow, It took approximately 4 hours! I've looked at your work and it's very good the vomit one must've taken an age to render i'm so impatient, I also like the little fin wobble you added on the end of the whale one it did make me giggle, Hey have you checked out Boring3D? (the images are done using max gasp! devil speak)
but it's quite possibly the funniest site i've seen I do recommend a visit there
also, thanks for sharing you work it makes me want to do the hypervoxel liquid thing now! oh yeah this realflow is it free? and if so where do I find it?

You're welcome Mugatu,
RealFlow (http://www.nextlimit.com/productsrealflow00.htm) is hardly free. I think it's like a thousand dollars.
I've never visited Boring3D before, I liked the red/blue 3D stuff. I haven't found the "funny" stuff tho.
Be happy

why do they charge so much? it's just not fair no wonder people try to get pirate copies of sofware all the time. I hope your company does well, look me up if you need any employees i'll gladly move away from england it's so hard to get your foot in the door over here.

This is why they charge so much.

I recieved your private message, but it was too vague. I could not find the image you were referring to. I sent you an EMail reply to the matter.
