Is the new 256MB ATI9800 PRO any good for LightWave 7.5c?
I allready ordered it but after reading the post below about OpenGL problems Im beginning to wonder.
Does 256MB give any real advantage over 128 in layout and\or modeler?
Im hopin the ATI image quality is better than the NVidia's.
Thnaks,
Travis
256Mb are way too much IMO. Read this article:

Specialy the conclusion:

Beside the cost, most of us will not use that much memory, as it's manly used for large textures.

Thanks Alaine,
I just got it today and LW modeler seems more responsive with high poly models. But havent really tested it yet.
And now I am dnlding drivers for XP (msofts site is slow :( today).
Take care,

One consolation is ATI cards have better 2d quality than Nvidia cards of course Matrox has always had the best 2d view ever.
I use an ATI radeon9700 card on a game box I built and so far there seems to be no big openGL problems when I run LW7.
Best cards for modeling are "workstation" cards. 3Dlabs are great and Nvidia seem to run smoother for pushing alot of poly's around.
