I have heard a lot of talk lately and comparisons with all the other editors about advanced features for effects or audio, etc. Avid, FCP, Edius, Vegas, etc.
We need to come to grips with the fact that we will probably never have those.
What we do have, however, is the fastest editor that will handle more than any other in terms of resolutions and frame rates which is going to be very important in HD productions that need to make use of the existing footage in your library.
What we should be focusing on is streamlined workflows in and out of VT and SE to other apps.
If we look at VT/SE as the best "roughcut" editors for complicated productions - what is the best way to achieving finishing?
VT/SE will never be as good as AfterEffects or Nuendo or Encore. What we need is creative solutions on how to get from here to there and back.
All ideas are welcome.
Let the games begin.
Aloha,
