Here's the scoop: it is 6 months ago and I buy Lightwave and put it on my Desktop. Now I get My laptop and I want to put it on there. So I try to install but it says there is no sentinal driver. I install that and try again, it still dosen't work. I had my USB dongle in the whole time. I finally get lightwave to install and i try it, it says"Lightwave cannot initilize" So I try to go to License. key but it is not there. What is wrong? Please help soon!

Installation procedure should be:

1. Install latest Sentinel drivers - www.rainbow.com

2. Install hardware key after drivers (v. important)

3. Install LightWave 3D


If you install the Sentinel drivers with the USB key already plugged in LightWave will often fail to detect the key.

Uninstall everything and try again.

I tried that and it still dosen't work I know get
"error number:0x80040707
Description" and "1628: failed to complete instillation"
what is wrong!!!

try this :

zip up the whole lightwave install directory (with path info) on the old computer
burn to cd or transfer to laptop in another way
unzip (with path info)

that's usually how I transfer from one to another pc

actually I take one more step - I have configured lw to put its cfg files in a subfolder of the install directory, that way I transfer the cfg files too !

run lightwave.exe or modeler.exe in the programs dir of your unpacked

I make shortcuts to my desktop with links like this :

F:\LightWave75b\Programs\lightwav.exe -cF:\lightwave75b\configs

the -c.... part is the path to the config files

Hi again
Lightwave suddenly started to work. It still won't install. But it works, except modeler dosen't have all the functions. Like unser create Objects it only has sphere, box and cone and disk

Rescan plugins directories (maybe something left out).
