I've often been accused of trying to do too much with not enough hardware. So this will be nothing new, for anyone who knows me from the VTNT list!

I see on the SE page it lists XP. Has anyone tested SE with Windows 2000? I've put off buying XP for various reasons, but mostly because I didn't actually "have to" buy it, and money is still money.

Now we have Vista coming out soon, and I'm thinking, Hey, why buy XP now, I'll just upgrade my new computer to Vista, and leave the old one running Win2K. Except now its just going to kill me if my SE package gets here, and I can't run it on Win2K.

I'm not doing anything with HDV yet. I'll be doing strictly DV stuff for the next few months.

My new computer is running a Pentium D 2.66 on a Super Micro board... PDSGE (socket 775), got a GB of ram, and a pair of SATA drives on a 3Ware raid card. Got some good power there. I built it for my VT card, but the card decided to be a pain in my butt, so it can just sit in its static bag for now.

So, what's the word? I don't need "best practice" I need to know if there is anything in the code that will prevent it from running on Win2k. I'll upgrade to Vista probably as soon as it comes out. Ok, next question, will SE run on Vista? Or can you answer that one yet?

Thanks!
Keepin' the Faith :)

No, it requires XP Service Pack 2 or better. You won't get very far into the installer before it lets you know.

We've tested on all the newer versions of Windows, from XP Media Center to X64 Enterprise Server with 8 dual core CPUs.

We're in good shape for anything XP or newer.

Thanks John, for the heads up.
Time to dump more stuff on Ebay :)
