Hiya all,

I though i'd try to do an interior to help me to get to know Fprime. It came out a bit average so I though I'd come here for a bit of help. My Fprime settings are 3 Bounce MC, 130% internsity, light quility 0.5. I have 2 area lights (linear), in the scene, one at the window (30%), and one as the sun (800%). I had trouble getting the room illuminated evenly without making it too light and washed out. When i added more light by increasing the birghtness of the area lights I got a horrible burn out on the ceiling above the window. You can see by the darkness on the sofa that i haven't got it right! When i started to add fill lights it just looked to bright. I wasn't sure what difference the room mesh made either i.e. to model it enclosed or to model without the walls that are not in view? Also, the texture of the walls is just a colour with diffuse at 80% - is that appropriate?

Thanks in advance

A tiny bump on the walls gives it a lift and you can use the same settings in the specular channel but very subtly.
I tend to model all the walls and keep them there but other openings, even internal doors, let more light in so you can fill them with Area Lights too.

As for the overall lighting, I'd suggest the following: check the transparency on your glass-your 'sun' light only needs to be around 140% usually so maybe your glass needs to let more light in.
For fill lighting, an area light under the floor pointing up will have a dramatic effect, simulating the first (and main) bounce the sunlight makes after entering the room. Colour it as the floor and switch off shadows.

Cool user name btw!
A friend downloaded barnaby's song a year or so ago and it just all came flooding back to me. What a great show that was. Shame he was such a **** singer right enough.

Keep us posted on your interior.

Thanks Iain,

You were right about the glass! Let in a lot more light once adjusted. It's looking better. I've gone back to basics and i'm adding one light at a time and changing it's type and intensity etc so i know what they do - a perfect job for fprime!

Yea, Barnaby was my absolute fave :) I though he had quite a good voice though!
