It may seem strange but can I use SE and VT on the same machine. As there is likely to be a gap between the release of SE and VT5 I would like to start using the new features in SE asap.
By the way newtek great commercial !!! and by the sounds of all the new features in SE you guys deserve a nobel prize for video software developement. Well done (in advance).

Sure, why not? Paul Lara has already stated though that the stand-alone SpeedEdit will not see the VT card. That means analog video in and out will still need to be done within the VT environment.

I have also heard that SE and VT4 handle the Newtek Info folders differently. So if you use the same clips with each app you would need to delete the folders and let them rebuild it when switching from one to the other.
(Can we please shorten the wait period for posts to 2 minutes... or 1?)

SpeedEDIT doesn't use anything from the VT, so you will need a "normal" Windows sound card.
In most cases the NewTek Info folders should work between the two applications, because they are versioned, but SE will need to add new info that VT did not use.
On the plus side, it no longer needs to conform the audio for any common files. It does create the waveform display information, but it doesn't suck up the GB's of drive space needed for the conformed audio. It happens very quickly, I'm proud to say.
If you suspect a conflict, let me know at jperkins@newtek.com and right click in a filebin and select "Clean Temporary Files" This will rebuild the info folder without having to delete it manually in Windows Explorer.

SpeedEdit will be in the next software release for the VT which will mean it will see the hardware.
