Heres a little something i've been working with for a while.
Here's the grandad model:

And here's an idea for a scene to put him in:

Obviously lots of modelling and surfacing still to do, but I'd love to hear suggestions if there you have any.

Cheers,

I like it. Kind of stylized because his clothes are large for him. It makes the image seem more "cute." On the bottom image, something looks wrong with his hands. Especially the one holding the pint though it's hard to tell exactly what is wrong. It could be the hands are too big? Nice though.

Oh. And if you are going to use radiosity, it help if you check on noise reduction.

Nice.

Is that radiosity or have you added film grain to get that look? The hands and clothes look fine to me. You could do a good animation with him telling us an old war-story.

Looking forward to see where you take this.

Looks really cool, the models are great and the details class, even the stools have seams.

What are the really bright dots?

Modeling wise put in an ash tray and beer mats, and for that really old look how about a Pipe.

Now the important question – what’s he having a pint off
:D

Hi,
thanks for the ideas! At the minute I would just describe it as a 'sketch'. I'm trying to get a good composition before I start the hard work of painting. I want to hand paint all surfaces to give it a painterly - imperfect appearance.
Right now, the lighting uses area lights to simulate radiosity bounces. The speckled dots are caused by the large area light of the rear wall shining very close to the wall - i forgot to exclude that wall from that particular light.
He is of course drinking Guinness - he's Irish ;) .
Hopefully I can show some updates soon - playing with damn Uvs now.....

Cheers,

Hello!
For me this ray is too dark and i can't see any details on his face. And i don't know whta is in the left top corner? [stars behind
a window] If you ask me about human body object for me is very good, many details and jacket is good also. I think that it will be great if this old man will smoke a cigaret.
Bye

I've returned to this after a good while. I've worked on the old guy's shading and texturing

Hopefully I'll get round to finishing the scene!
