image creation failed error

Hi guys n gals,
I normally dont need to come on the net to get my problems sorted but.........I am rendering a very large image for a floor plan
It really needs to be up around the A2 size maybe even bigger,now normally its fine, I have a pretty quick system, dual 2.2 xeons with 1 gig of pc800 ram so normally all is well, but this time when I try to execute a render I get this "Image creation failed".

Anyone,anywhere with any ideas.

Try to render you image by segments...

Either using some plugins like:

Or us a tool like:

http://www.rayserver.com/

I sort of managed to get to the whole segment thing by mistake or maybe grand design ? I found that by having a very small memory segment (8 mb) the renderer seemed much happier making 155 passes, rather than the usual 1 or 2, I downloaded the spilt render thingy and will try to get to grips will the interface and controls when time allows
