View Full Version : automating audio fade

Hey all,

I want to do some automation of an audio transition, and I'm not sure if it's possible.

Here's the scenario:

Before and after our services, we display announcements slides - PNGs in a ddr for 15 seconds with a dissolve between each.

At the same time, I play a streaming audio feed (di.fm - it's great!) through the house PA (doesn't feed through the VT - goes direct to the house audio console).

What I want to do is in the middle of those slides, I want to have an occassional announcement video. So I would just drop the video file in the ddr list.

But when the video plays, I obviously want to transition from the streaming audio feed to the audio of the video, and then back to the stream when the video finishes.

I'd like to avoid having an operator at the mixer having to watch like a hawk for those videos and transitioning manually.

So can I do the follow:
- route the streaming feed to the VT first as an audio source and then play that underneath the slide scroll
- set up some automation in the mixer so that somehow the video in the ddr triggers a fade down on the streaming feed channel and fade up on the ddr audio channel, and vice versa when the clip ends.

I know this is a somewhat complicated scenario....

thanks for any advice!!!

Very easy to do. Not complicated at all.

Use the switcher/interface control croutons and it will do all of what you want. I find the easiest way to do this kind of thing is setup everything you want to accomplish in a VT Edit project and then just save/load the project for playback in the DDR. just like butter.

DI.FM is a great choice btw. The guys there have used one of our VT systems for some time now to do remote webcasting.

Ok, now back to my dungeon.
