:help: Hello everyone we got our Tri Caster last year. Here is my setup and my situation.
At my school I have a room that is the studio. I had our maint. staff paint the back wall with key green paint. I have soft umbrella lights and some clamp on lights that I use to light my talent and I use floor flood lamps to light the back wall. I am using a GL II - 3 CCD camera for our shoots.
The problem is that whenever we try and key in our green we have such a hard time. Here are some of the issues we face.
1. When the talent turns their head one side of their face goes transparent.
2. There is a green shadow around the person no matter what I try. I think its called spill and I have tried to adjust it out but no go.

I have tweaked the adjustments and have spent countless hours trying to get this to work correctly. I think I have read everything on the net about lighting and I have tried just about everything I can think of.

Has anyone setup a studio that works with green screen. I need any tips or suggestions I can get. This was a big jump for our school district and at this point I am not very happy with the outcome of the unit.
Thank you.

Hi,
Here are some key points for you (no pun there)

Move talent as far away from the key wall as is practical
set up a backlight with amber gels; this will counteract the spill, which is green light splashing off the back wall
Make sure you're using TriCaster's S-Video output, not composite

We've found using flourescent lighting to backlight the green works really good because its very even and no hot spots. Also try Paul's tips.

:agree: Thanks for the Reply! We have our talent about five feet away from the wall. I will try the extra lighting tip. Right now I am lighting it with flood laps, but that may be too hot the way it sounds here. This amber back light, do you know where I could buy these at. I am not sure what an amber light is.
Thank You!!
